  • Domain Matching (Local): The extension checks the domain name of the website you visit against a locally cached list of supported merchant partners. This check happens entirely inside your browser. Your full browsing history, search terms, and page contents are never sent to our servers.
  • Anonymous Telemetry & Usage Data: When you interact with the extension (such as clicking to copy a coupon code or applying a discount), we collect minimal, non-personally identifiable telemetry data. This includes anonymous interaction timestamps, extension version, and generic error diagnostics.
  • No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect or request personal identifiers such as your name, email address, IP address, phone number, credentials, search queries, browsing history, or payment details.

2. User Data Handling and Use

Any data processed by or sent through the Discountify Browser Extensionis handled strictly to provide and improve the extension's core functionality:

  • Delivering Verified Savings: Fetching active coupon codes and discounts for supported merchant stores when you visit them.
  • Performance & Diagnostics: Monitoring extension stability, diagnosing bug reports, and optimizing coupon delivery speed.
  • Strictly Scoped Purpose: Data is used solely for the core single-purpose function of the extension. Data is never used for user profiling, targeted advertising across unrelated sites, or creditworthiness evaluation.

3. User Data Storage, Protection, and Security

We implement rigorous safeguards for storing and protecting data:

  • Local Device Storage: All user preferences (such as notification snooze durations, theme choices, and dismissed popups) are stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure chrome.storage.local API.
  • Encryption in Transit: All network requests made by the extension to fetch merchant coupon data or submit anonymous feedback use encrypted HTTPS (TLS/SSL) connections.
  • Data Retention: Local settings persist on your device until you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension. Server-side anonymous telemetry logs are retained only as long as necessary for technical diagnostics and monitoring, after which they are permanently deleted or anonymized.

4. User Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures

We maintain a strict policy regarding the sharing of user data:

  • Zero Selling of Data: We never sell, rent, license, or trade user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertisers under any circumstances.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Network requests pass through trusted cloud infrastructure and content delivery partners (such as Cloudflare and Vercel) strictly for hosting, API routing, and DDoS protection. These providers handle requests securely and under contractual data protection obligations.
  • Affiliate Networks & Merchants: When you voluntarily click a coupon code or deal link, the extension may direct your browser session through a secure affiliate link to the merchant. This allows us to earn a referral commission from the merchant if a purchase is made. No personal user data, user profile, or browsing history is transmitted to affiliate networks or merchants during this process.
  • Legal Requirements: We will only disclose information if required to do so by a valid, legally binding court order or regulatory request.

5. User Controls and Rights

You remain in complete control of your experience and data at all times:

  • You can snooze notifications for 2 hours, 1 day, or permanently for specific domains via the extension settings.
  • You can clear stored preferences at any time by clearing your extension storage or removing the extension from your browser.
